Hey! You guys are still with me!
Awesome!
I use exclamations a lot,
so let me apologize in advance
and get on to the good stuff! ;-)
Today was
National Kids Takeover The Kitchen Day
and while I had some
reservations about it,
I'm glad that they were unfounded
because the kids did an amazing job
taking over my kitchen.
Their menu:
Milkshakes ;-)
Cheesy Cheddar Chowder
Mini Apple Pies
Today was the perfect day for
such a menu as this...
It was gray, cloudy, rainy,
and there was a slight chill in the air,
again perfect for some chowder and pie.
Everything turned out really good!
The only help that my husband
and I gave them was
chopping of the veggies,
and
putting things in and out of the oven,
other than that they were on their own.
Making apple pie...
They even made their crusts from scratch!
Finished product,
they added the first letter of our names
for a cute touch,
and being the super awesome kids that they are
even made a pie for their baby brother.
But this soup though...
I can't stress enough how
amazing this chowder turned out.
I plan on posting the recipe tomorrow,
so stay tuned!
I think kids should take over the kitchen more often...
My daughter said she wants to cook more,
and I think I'm going to let her.
I can see her and I being in the kitchen together
quite a bit. I want to teach her everything I know
and also learn with her.
Exciting things coming from taking on this blog
and I look forward to more growth as a family.
Tomorrow is:
National Cream-Filled Doughnut Day...
Ugh... So not looking forward to that...
Help me out here...
What kind of cream-filled doughnuts should we get?
What's your favorite?
Share with me!
PS. The kids and the husband are loving the comments...
Keep 'em coming
and if you like us enough
would you be kind enough to give us a share?
The more friends the merrier!
I can only imagine what would happen if my kids took over in the kitchen. I would end up with a mish mash of stuff that THEY like :)
ReplyDeleteYeah if cleaning up the kitchen was a part of the deal I'd go for it. Looks like they made some good things!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back for the recipe. Looks like they did a really good job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - their menu sounds delicious as well - wish I could have come for tea ;) x
ReplyDeleteI love it when the kids want to be in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI end up with a great mess, but always very fun
Get a guaba filled donut!
Can't wait to try the soup so looking forward to that recipe and favorite donut is Boston cream for sure.
ReplyDeleteLove this post. I used to get my Daughter and Grandkids together every year to bake Christmas cookies. The problem is... I always had to clean up the mess.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy if anyone wants to take over my kitchen! And, oh, I can't wait for cream filled donut day!!
ReplyDeleteThose mini apple pies are just the cutest! My kids always loved helping out in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun. I love having my kids in the kitchen with me!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great experience for your family. I am impressed with these kids. They must feel very accomplished.
ReplyDeleteWow! I am super impressed! Maybe I should let my kids take over the kitchen! My favorite is just the regular creme filled doughnuts. That is the only kind I will eat. Would eclairs count? I do like those.
ReplyDeleteThat chowder really does look fantastic! Your kids are going to be little master chefs!
ReplyDeleteThis all look wonderful! I had no idea there was a day for this. Next year, my children will make me dinner! haha
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Your kids had fun, learned a bit and other than clean up you had a day off.
