Today was a good day
I was up early enough to get the kids to school
without rushing, I was able to go by
Barnes & Noble
to purchase a book
written by a friend
(way cool!)
and
I was even able to
make good on the promise to feed ducks
with the littlest ones today.
I was rocking it.
So imagine my
dismay when around 3:30
I began to get the warning signs
of a migraine.
I was so very sad about it
I was so very sad about it
because I knew
the one that I felt coming on
was going to be a whopper
and it is... It's a big one.
I didn't know how I was going to make it tonight,
but I took some medicine
and despite feeling
awful,
I was able to stick to my guns
and make the family
funfetti pancakes
in honor of
National Pancake Day
They aren't the prettiest pancakes I've made, but they did the trick, and were edible, so I guess that's all that really matters LOL |
I had planned to cook these
bad boys from scratch,
I had a recipe and all that jazz
ready to go,
but alas
my migraine said,
"No way Lady. You're not cooking from scratch today!"
Instead, I used
the just add water
pancake mix
(the horror)
and
made the batch as quickly as I could
so I could return to lying down position.
I'm taking a reprieve from my
slumber to write this post.
I must ask,
did you celebrate
National Pancake Day?
Were you up for the challenge?
What's your favorite kind of pancake?
I enjoy funfetti,
but
red velvet is a close second.
Tomorrow is:
National Corned Beef Hash Day
and
National Chocolate Milk Day
Chocolate Milk, I've got covered,
but that hash...
Stay tuned...
You're the definition of a momma. You get it done even with a migraine. I hope your family said thank you!
ReplyDeleteGoodness those look delicious. I bet your family was happy to eat those right up. I love Chocolate milk, now if only I had some for tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your friend about her book! You need to give her a shout out so we can check it out.
ReplyDeleteThe book is called Breathing Room by Leeana Tankersley
DeleteUgh. I get migraines too and it feels like the world is going to end. I'm so glad you were able to spend some time with your family for National Pancake Day.
ReplyDeleteI get migraines often, since I was 9. Tried every OTC and prescription only for them to not work or make it worse. There is nothing harder than trying to be a wife and mom with a migraine or in my case, the hangover of a migraine cause when mine get so bad there is no getting me out of my room, touching me, or talking to me. Light and someone touching my flesh or noise feels like I am being stabbed. No fun.
ReplyDeleteMy girls have always been big fans of chocolate chip pancakes. So I kind of combined pancake day with milk chocolate day!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! Can't believe I didn't realize it was National Pancake Day. Those look so cute, I also love funfetti.. everything! Tomorrow is National Coffee Day, totally won't be missing that. Hope you are feeling better ;)
ReplyDeleteThis seems like such a fun adventure!!! I may just try it next year! :)
ReplyDeleteaw man, i missed an easy dinner opportunity! we LOVE pancakes. around here we call them can-cakes though
ReplyDeleteYay for National Pancake Day! Good for you for sticking to it, even while not feeling your best.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Glad you stuck with it, us moms always do that. WE put our kids first even on our off/bad days. I remember telling my Dad that one morning I felt so sick, but the kids were fine. I wanted so badly just to have them stay home from school because I could barely move, but I didn't. I got up, made breakfast, did our routine and got them to school and my Dad said "that's because you are a MOM"
ReplyDeleteI will do anything for a chocolate chip pancake right about now! I hope your migraine has subsided and you are in much better spirits now. I am loving the sound of National Chocolate Milk day. :)
ReplyDeleteI love pancakes, I haven't had them in a while as they're are not on my nutritional plan. Maybe, I'll cheat..shh don't tell my trainer
