So...
I totally celebrated yesterday
and today...
I just forgot to post until around 3 this morning
when I frantically
awoke from my slumber
and
accidentally waking my 2 month old in the process
talking about blogging.
Dedicated much?
I was seriously kicking myself over
that all day.
The Duke told me not to beat myself up,
that it's an honest mistake
and that
you all would forgive me.
Right?
Alright.
Now to the important stuff
National Days!
Yesterday was
National Taco Day
and
National Vodka Day
So, since it was a beautiful fall day out
we took to the streets to see what our local Fringe Festival
was all about, and while there Vodka was celebrated.
The Duke's vodka mix poured by a bartender at a fabulous little restaurant in our town. |
At home, tacos were on the menu, and
the whole family pitched in to cook dinner.
It turned out great!
TACOS!!! Delicioso! |
This dinner has made me a big fan
of tacos and I look forward to implementing
"Taco Tuesday" once or twice a month!
Okay, let's move on to today!
Today was
National Apple Betty Day.
I'm going to be honest. I'd never
heard of Apple Betty until today,
but I'm really happy that today was that day.
Where we live it was super cold today,
so I just wanted to do nothing but
hang out at home and snuggle,
but since we have athletes in the house
I spent the day at their games outside.
So let me just say that I was extremely happy to
bake tonight.
This came out of my oven! Mmmmmm! |
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 375
2. Add the peeled and cored apples to a buttered pie dish and pour the OJ on top. Mix well and set aside.
3. . Combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl and mix until crumbly.
4. Sprinkle the mixture on top of the apples and make sure to cover it good (it's not a pie, but that crust is the bomb.com, you'll love it!)
5. Put it in the oven for 45 minutes.
After you take it out
bowl it up and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or cool whip!
Enjoy!
Tomorrow is
National Noodle Day
I'm going to have fun with that one.
See ya then!
You are dedicated. I hate when I have a deadline and forget about it until I wake up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Usually, I just go back to bed and worry about it the next day :)
ReplyDeleteWhere's my invite? This sounds like the perfect day. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI could celebrate taco day just about any day of the week! That apple betty looks pretty darn good too.
ReplyDeleteLol. I am sure your 2 month old will forgive you. Anyway it is never to earl to start blogging :)
ReplyDeleteLOL well we all forget so no worries. Everything looks so good and I like the idea of a noodle day think I will have pasta salad for lunch.
ReplyDeleteMmm, vodka cocktails, yummy tacos AND delicious apple betty?!?!?! I'm in heaven
ReplyDeleteyou must have been talking to me mentally yesterday. We ended up celebrating taco day without knowing it. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI am having taco's today! Does that count? LOL I know about the blogging thing, been there and done that. I have so many deadlines for clients and such that often , even with planning, I get overwhelmed and make mistakes. It's life.
ReplyDeleteTacos are perfect any day of the week but tacos and vodka! Yes!! That is my kind of Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual and fantastic combination! Living in Southern California, we are very big on tacos!
ReplyDeleteI'll take the taco and the pie! And actually- I think I'll add them to my menu for this week!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty impressed with your tacos actually. Mine are so messy they'd never withstand a blog picture.
ReplyDeleteI want tacos now! Heck, I want a fruity vodka drink, too! What awesome national holidays combined, yum!
ReplyDeleteI like tacos and I like vodka. I've never had them together though. I'd try it. lol
ReplyDeleteTacos and vodka go well together so it is ok that you had to get all the days in together, LOL. The apple Betty looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteTacos are always my favorite food to order. They are so yummy and the more tomatoes, the better!
ReplyDeleteForgetting means we get two today (two vodkas or two tacos) so that's not bad, right? We haven't had a taco dinner in awhile, we're about due. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had tacos for dinner as well. My kids and I really like them. I like the idea of Taco Tuesday :)
ReplyDeleteThat apple pie looks so tasty! I could totally go for the vodka drink right now too!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at Vodka. Just kidding I was all for the food. I am so so hungry right now. Look at that apple pie it looks so delicious. Am I invited for dinner?
ReplyDeleteTacos and vodka sound awesome! We just had a rough last six weeks around here, so we can use some relaxing.
ReplyDeleteThose all sound super YUM! Ingredients for a perfect evening.
